Renner Winery opens new tasting room in Copperopolis Town Square
A doctor’s winery dream has come true.
Growing grapes in Calaveras County for 10 years was not enough for Dr. Ian Renner. His dream was to have a world-class winery at sometime. That dream has come true.
In Vallecito, CA, deep in the heart of the Sierra Foothills is Canterbury Vineyards. Where for years estate grown Cabernet, Syrah and Viognier has been used to make award winning wines for other vintners in California. In 2007 Dr. Renner's dream became fulfilled, with a new vintage, and a new place to pour it-for those who like premier world-class wines.
Amongst the quaint charm of a unique vintage Town Square in Copperopolis, CA, is the new Renner Winery tasting room. It is here that one can taste the quality of Winemaker Brett Keller's talents and attention to detail. Renner Winery's is truly a great new find in Calaveras County.
"We are excited to finally be open for business in Calaveras County and in the town of Copperopolis. We love the culture of wine in Calaveras County, and we love our new venue. The Town Square is a great location for us. Oddly enough, our vineyard is quite close to Copperopolis, just 10 miles as the crow flies!" says Brett Keller
"The Tasting Room is beautiful and was designed by the acclaimed local architect firm of Rudolph Ortega and Associates. The signature feature is the 40 foot poured concrete wraparound bar, it is truly stunning." says Amy Young, who manages the tasting room.
Not only does Renner Winery make delicious wines, but they also make Olive Oil from their own Manzanilla Olives on the estate. "We've been growing some of the regions' best Syrah, Cabernet and Viognier, but many don't realize we grow olives which create the best Olive Oil", says Steve Moore, Renner Winery's Vineyard Manager.
According to Young, the tasting room will offer a host of gift items, and chocolates that would please any wine connoisseur. The Tasting Room offers complimentary wine and olive oil tastings. Renner tasting room is located in the southwest corner of the square, and is open Thursday through Sunday. Renner will also be open late for Copper Town Square events!
